If you had a blank billboard...
(5-Minute Read)
If you had a blank billboard on a busy corner, and you could write anything at all on it, what would you write? It's an interesting question, isn't it?
This was the opportunity we had over this past month. It had been a number of years since the sign on the corner by Bon (our local ice cream shop) was updated, and it was time. We had the paint, we had the painter, but what should it say? What should we declare to everyone driving by? How could we communicate the heart of what God was doing at Doulos?
And then, it came to us clear as day -
Los líderes de Dios Provienen De TODOS los orígenes.
God’s Leaders Come From ALL Backgrounds
In a culture where the “haves” and the “have nots” don’t usually mix, where quality education that gives students the skills they’ll need to solve problems and lead others is a luxury most can’t afford, and where clout beats character and corruption is far too common, God is doing something revolutionary at Doulos. God is raising up leaders from a variety of backgrounds who know Him, love Him, and are equipped to tackle big problems and advance His kingdom.
This declaration - God’s Leaders Come From ALL Backgrounds - was the spark that started Doulos 20 years ago, and it is the fire that continues to burn bright today. It’s why we’re here and it explains EVERYTHING we do:
Why do 50% of our students have scholarships and 50% pay full tuition?
Why do we have students from the DR, Haiti, and North America?
Why do we invest heavily in our academic and social-emotional intervention support for students?
Why do our students get out of the classroom to engage in meaningful fieldwork?
The answer to all of these is simple.
God’s Leaders Come From ALL Backgrounds
From our international multi-accreditation to how we greet the students each morning, from our educational model to our chapels and small group time, there is ONE reason we do EVERYTHING. We deeply believe that God is raising up leaders from ALL backgrounds so that He can call them to tackle big problems and advance His kingdom. We are so grateful that you are part of it!
#DoulosAlums
Hello my name is Pricila Castillo.
I’m an artist, fashion design aspirant, and also part of the Doulos Family. Doulos was the place where I started to develop a love for art. Doulos taught me that art is as important as all other careers and I can share the Gospel through it. While there, I learned the importance of having a relationship with God and to keep working and being perseverant. Today I use all that I learned to share the Gospel with the people around me.
April's Highlights
Family Worship Night
Doulos students come from a variety of different churches here in town. Last month we brought everyone together for a school-wide night of worship. It was a beautiful highlight of the month.
Fieldwork Trips
A handful of classes left campus last month to experience the topic they were studying firsthand - diversity. 8th grade spent 2 days in Sosua Bay getting up close and personal to the diversity found in the coral reefs offshore. Our kindergarten went to a Botanical Garden in Santiago. Pre-k visit an off-campus fruit market and gym to understand how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

¡Vamos Lobos!
All our teams had a great run in League play last month. Middle school boy basketball and middle school girls volleyball advanced to the finals which will take place in early May!
Please join us in praying for...
Last weeks of School - As we count down to the end of the year please join us in praying for the students and staff to continue to press into all that God has for them in the next month.
Sports Competitions - Prayer for our athletes as they deal with the pressure of playing in big games and representing Doulos on the court and field.
Camp Discovery - In June and July, we will be hosting Camp Discovery. This is a three-week “VBS” style day camp that draws in students from across the town. It is a powerful opportunity for students to experience the gospel and grow in their faith.
Recruitment - Last month we had the privilege of removing some open positions from our web page!! Thank you so much for your continued prayers for God to call HIs staff for next year.
